An Archuleta Christmas

We don’t know what it is about American Idol runner-ups this week, but something must be in the water. First Adam Lambert came out with his new album cover fail and now David Archuleta one-upped him. Archuleta announced a Christmas tour, and the promotional materials for it are less than desirable.

Who is hiring these designers? They’re creating 1990’s-era tragedies! Seriously, this is the kind of stuff we created using Print Shop Pro in art class in elementary school. The font they used for David Archuleta looks like Zoro meets River Dance, and makes us hope there are some Irish-infused carols in the concert.

David looks frightened. Although, we would probably look frightened too if our daddy slapped us as children. The angelic glow isn’t doing much for his pastey tone either, but major props to the hair stylist. Question. Who gave little Davey collagen right before his photo shoot? His lips will seek their revenge, whoever you are.

Wait, ok, we get it now. The entire post was fashioned after the vampire craze that’s sweeping across America. Isn’t the whole thing very Twilight-esque? If you squint really hard you can almost see Robert Pattinson staring straight into your soul while phantom vampires flash through the background of western Canadian forests. Very good, design team. You’ve appealed to teeny boppers everywhere, which I suppose is David’s demographic.

His Christmas album cover isn’t much better.

Someone likes snowflakes.

He’s wearing the same thing, which makes us think both the tour advertisement and the album cover were taken from the same photoshoot. Lame. At least here David looks a little more present; even grateful perhaps. His eyes seem to say in the most humble of voices (and maybe even a British accent), “Thahnks for buyin’ moy CD, kind suh.” And is it just us, or has Archuleta always seemed a wee bit cross-eyed?

No worry. Regardless of how he looks, we’re HUGE fans of his music and even bigger fans of Christmas albums. While we won’t be buying tickets for the Christmas tour, we do hope to score a copy of the CD. So David, in response to your eye ball thank you we say, “You’re welcome.”
